Skill Points Assignment Guide

Characters in Argentum Online have various skills to learn. Depending on the class chosen to play (for example, mage, paladin, warrior), some of them will be specialized. A simple example is that the Mage class will seek to specialize in Magic, and the Hunter class will specialize in ranged weapons. To specialize in the different skills that exist in the game, some basic notions must be taken into account.

Basic Notions

First, you should know that each skill can be improved (skilled) up to a maximum of 100 points. To see the list of available skills in the game, click on the lightning icon to the right of the name, at the top right of the screen. There you can also see how many points you have in each skill.

There are two ways to increase a skill from the list: using natural skill points (natural skills) and using assignable skill points (assignable skills).

  • Natural points allow you to specialize in a skill simply by using it frequently. For example, if you want to increase points in magic, you can cast spells to raise natural skills. Depending on the character's level, you are allowed to skill up a certain number of points naturally, following a 3-5-7-10 cycle for every four levels reached.

  • Assignable points are points that the game grants to speed up the mastery of a skill, allowing you to reach 100 at earlier levels. At the beginning, all characters are born with 10 free points, and each time the character levels up, they gain 5 free points, except for the Worker who gains 6 per level.


Note: Only with natural skills can you reach 100 in a skill at level 40. Therefore, it is common practice to use assignable points much earlier, between levels 25 and 35. Warning! If you use assignable skills on a skill, there is no going back. You must also keep in mind that you lose the opportunity to increase them naturally. For example, if you assign points to have 60 in magic, you will not be able to skill up naturally until you reach level 25, where you can skill up naturally to 63 (see table). Except for very particular cases, it is recommended to increase only natural skills until a level higher than 25 and then consider using assignable skills. Before using assignable skills, do not forget to increase the natural skills allowed by your level.

Navigation, Leadership, and Backstab

Some special skills cannot be increased naturally or require some initial assignable points.

  • Navigation: to access the maritime zones of the game, it is necessary to sail with a boat. To use a boat, characters who are not workers must be at least level 25 and have 70 points in navigation. The navigation skill does not increase naturally, so you must use 70 free points to assign them to navigation. This is very important to access all the +25 content in the game.

  • Leadership: this skill has two functionalities, to found a clan or to create a group (party). Like navigation, this skill cannot be improved naturally, so if you want to found a clan with a character, you must assign 50 points in leadership.
    In case you want to create a group (party), provisionally, the system does not require points in leadership.

  • Backstab: the backstab skill is the specialty of the assassin class, which can improve it by using daggers naturally from the start. However, other classes that use daggers can also naturally specialize in backstab, but they need at least 10 free skills assigned to the skill.

It is recommended to check the class manuals for a more detailed explanation of the appropriate skills for each one, along with a conventional skilling recommendation.

Backstab Increases the chance to backstab with a dagger or short sword. Yes, requires assigning 10 skills in all classes except Assassins.
Steal Increases the chance to steal gold from the opponent, making you a criminal. It is said that only thieves could also steal items. No, it improves by stealing.
Alchemy Allows you to create alchemy potions. No, it improves by making potions.
Woodcutting Increases the amount of wood extracted. No, it improves by woodcutting.
Fishing Increases the amount of fish caught. No, it improves by fishing.
Mining Increases the amount of minerals extracted. No, it improves by mining.
Carpentry Allows you to create objects made of wood. No, it improves by making carpentry items.
