- About the Rules
- Validity of the rules
- These rules are valid from their publication until further notice, revoking any previous rules.
- By simply connecting to Argentum Online or downloading our software, the user accepts the obligation to comply with the clauses contained herein.
- Rules and their updates
- The Argentum Online staff reserves the right to remove, add, or modify clauses of these rules as they see fit, without prior notice.
- Ignorance of the rules contained herein or their updates cannot be invoked, in any way, as justification for non-compliance.
- When the rules are updated, this will be announced on the website. The simple words 'Rules Updated' will suffice. It is the user's obligation to check the website before entering the game to confirm the existence of modifications to these rules.
- Validity of the rules
- User Regulations
- Character Creation
- Character names in the game can come from the user's imagination or be taken from history or mythology, but must always maintain a certain temporal setting and fit the theme of the Game. Below is a small, merely illustrative list of types of names that will not be accepted by the Staff, to serve as a guide for users when creating their character:
- Names that contain racially discriminatory references, or that refer to insulting physical or mental states towards the owner and/or their character, or towards other owners and/or characters, are prohibited.
- Also prohibited are names that, due to their similarity to those of Staff members, may cause confusion or be understood as mockery towards them.
- These same rules also apply to names assigned to CLANS.
- Any user with a character with an inappropriate name will be forced to change their name and penalized.
- Notwithstanding the above, it is reminded that the Staff reserves the right to admit or not admit characters to the server.
- Creation of characters for purposes unrelated to the game: Characters that can be deduced to have been created for purposes unrelated to the game, or that hinder its development—such as organizing protests, advertising other servers, insulting the Staff or the game, using the character to bring guards to criminal characters, etc.—may, in addition to being banned without prior notice, be punished with the respective penalty to their main character, the banning of that character, or, if warranted, the blocking of the IP.
- Exploitation of bugs and use of unauthorized external programs and/or hardware
- The exploitation of any type of bug or the use of unauthorized external software and/or hardware, such as macros, edited clients, accelerators, etc., is strictly prohibited.
- Depending on the severity of the incident, three types of penalties may be applied:
- GMs must apply penalties in accordance with the current 'Penalty System', unless there is a counter-order from a higher authority; since the Staff Directors may apply special penalties as they deem necessary.
- The exploitation of a bug by a user must be reported to the Staff. NOT reporting a bug is a direct violation of participation as a 'betatester', and may be cause for the user's immediate and permanent expulsion from the community.
- Those who conceal information regarding any of these points will be considered accomplices and may receive the same penalty as the perpetrator.
- The use of external software not published by the Staff on the official website is the responsibility of the users. Those who download software, applications, or any other file published within the game or forum by other users do so at their own risk. The Staff has no relation to such publications and will not be held responsible for them.
- The exploitation of any type of bug or the use of unauthorized external software and/or hardware, such as macros, edited clients, accelerators, etc., is strictly prohibited.
- Work System
- The work system (Working Mode) may only be used in an assisted manner, meaning the user must be in front of the PC while using it.
- A special inability that prevents the user from responding to the presence of the Sentinel or a Game Master will not be an excuse to avoid the penalty.
- PENALTY: Absence during the execution of Working Mode is punishable by permanent ban of the character.
- Sanctionable Acts
- Blocking free movement.-
- It is strictly forbidden to block the free movement of another user in any public sector of the game.
- Blocking between users is only allowed if the victim can defend themselves from being trapped. Trapping a character in a situation where they cannot defend themselves, as well as blocking their path with elementals and pets of the same alignment, will be sanctionable; you also cannot block entrances, cover teleports, etc. In summary:
- The following circumstances are included in this prohibition: Trapping in closed places to ask for items; trapping a citizen with other citizen(s) so that a criminal attacks them; those carried out by characters who cannot be attacked (e.g., because they are of the same faction, because the trapped character is not able to fight, it is a safe zone, the trapped is a citizen and so is the offender, etc.).
- The malicious use of pets to block another character, as well as to block an access, a path, or items on the ground, will be allowed as game mechanics as long as there are alternative paths.
- The use of dead characters to block the passage of a creature so that another character can train by attacking it will be considered Blocking.
- Dead characters who are on their boat may not block any type of item/gold that is on the ground; if they do so, it is considered blocking.
- GMs may block users as necessary to conduct investigations, resolve conflicts, or apply penalties.
- PENALTY: The behaviors described in the previous sections will be punished, in the first instance, with a penalty to the offending character. If the user repeats the violation of these rules, they may be sanctioned with a temporary or permanent ban depending on the severity of the incident, in the manner determined by the current 'Penalty System'.
- Blocking free movement.-
- Unfounded accusations against a Staff member
- Any user who publicly makes accusations against a Staff member, if these are unfounded (not based on concrete facts), or are merely injurious, as well as anyone who makes insinuations or incriminating suspicions towards them, will be subject to severe sanctions by the Staff, which may include the banning of all their characters and the application of 'Zero Tolerance'.
- Inappropriate behavior on the Official Server Forum and its social networks.
- Any user who, through the Official Server Forum or Argentum Online's social networks, behaves recklessly towards the Staff and other community members, using these spaces for systematic insults, false or injurious accusations, or any form of disrespect and abuse towards the Project, will be subject to severe sanctions by the Staff, which may include 'Zero Tolerance' within the Forum, social networks, and the game itself.
- Extraordinary sanctions for users
- The Directors of the Argentum Online Staff, at their discretion, may apply special sanctions to users who, both in the game and in the community, demonstrate unjustifiably hostile behavior and attitude towards the game, its authorities, or its community; as well as those users who—without expressly violating these rules—through their actions and words, both inside and outside the game, hinder the normal development of players, disrupt community harmony, or undermine the development of the game and offend its Staff.
- In the cases mentioned in the previous section, sanctions will be determined according to the circumstances, and since the objective is to completely remove these people from the game, 'Zero Tolerance' may be applied to them.
- Interference with Staff work
- While GMs and Counselors are in the game performing their duties, users may not interfere in any way with the free development of these tasks.
- It is strictly forbidden to attack, under any circumstances, a user who is in consultation with a GM or Counselor.
- It is also forbidden to interrupt the GM/Counselor or the user who is in consultation during the session.
- It is also prohibited to call a GM to ask for items, to be leveled up, to be taken to a certain place, or to be told where a certain character is located.
- Incorrect use of the commands that characters have to contact GMs and/or Counselors (such as /GM and /REPORT) that causes a nuisance for their performance will also be sanctioned. Remember that the /GM command should be used for game inquiries and /REPORT to report anti-regulation behavior by other users and to address important issues.
- SANCTION: The behaviors described above will be punished, in the first instance, with a penalty to the offending character. If the user repeats these violations, they may be sanctioned with a temporary or permanent ban, depending on the severity of the incident, as determined by the current 'Penalty System'.
- Respect among users
- The use of insults and other offensive or aggressive terms among users is prohibited, as well as disrespectful and discriminatory attitudes. These behaviors will be sanctioned with a penalty to the offending character, and if the user repeats this violation, they may be sanctioned with a temporary or permanent ban, depending on the severity of the incident, as determined by the current 'Penalty System'.
- Double Client
- A user detected using two clients at the same time from the same PC or different PCs—that is, the same person with two or more characters connected simultaneously—will be subject to a temporary or permanent ban, depending on the circumstances and as provided in the current 'Penalty System', for all characters logged in simultaneously at the time of the incident.
- GM Items and item exchanges
- Items held by GMs, which may fall accidentally or be involved in an exchange with the presence and intervention of a GM, may not be taken by a user not involved in the exchange.
- If someone takes them by mistake, upon the GM's indication, they must be returned immediately, under penalty, ultimately, of permanent ban of the character.
- Illegal placement of Creatures
- It is forbidden to arrange existing creatures in such a way that they block an exit, passage, or entrance, or attack immediately anyone entering a map. These behaviors will be penalized as determined by the current 'Penalty System'.
- Revealing Staff Identity
- Users who maliciously reveal the identity of a GM with a reserved identity, as well as those who attempt to do so even if the revealed identity is incorrect, whether through the game, the official server forum, or personally to other users, will be subject to severe sanctions by the Staff, which may include the banning of all their characters and the application of 'Zero Tolerance'.
- Factional Behavior
- Offenses such as anti-faction behavior, fraudulent enlistment, collaboration of army or legion members with criminals or citizens as appropriate, reward theft among members of the same faction, and any other violation of faction leadership regulations will carry the sanction determined by the leadership, without the characters being sanctioned by the Game Masters.
- Disagreements with decisions of the Argentum Online Staff
- In the event of a disagreement with the actions of the Staff, users have the right to present their opinion or defense, but must do so in a completely respectful manner. The use of vulgar, street, or offensive language, or a disqualifying attitude towards Staff members, will cause the user to immediately lose this right.
- If a user submits a defense in a non-designated channel, such as the forum, they lose all right to make any valid defense.
- If the user uses a public medium, such as the Forum, to seek a reduction of an already applied penalty or as a way to pressure the Staff member who sanctioned them, it will be considered a serious offense and may be sanctioned with an extension of the penalty or even its perpetuity, depending on the circumstances.
- User defenses must refer specifically to the penalty applied to them. According to section 2.18.3 of these rules, defenses referring to other users and the application or non-application of penalties to them, as an argument to avoid one's own sanction, are invalid. The user MUST REFER TO THEIR OWN ACTIONS WITH THEIR OWN CHARACTER, not those of third parties.
- If a procedural violation by a GM or Staff member is mentioned, it must be properly substantiated and detailed, indicating the time and date of the incident; the user must also specify the rules broken by the GM or Staff member.
- The only official contact channels with the GM Staff are the /GM Help system in the game and the support system. Any other contact via forums, private messaging, chat, etc. will not be official or relevant. The Staff may establish any other channel as they deem necessary.
- Defenses in the game, through /GM Help, may not include issues that should be handled by support; in such cases, the user must submit their defense through that system.
- Information regarding the reasons for sanctions can be found in the game itself, using the '/penalties ' command.
- Any complaint or defense must be made with the understanding that the Staff reserves, absolutely, the rights of admission and permanence, so the user will have no right to make any demands.
- Expulsions and Sanctions
- Sanctions will be applied according to the rules and penalty system, unless the Staff decides otherwise.
- Directors, by their position, have the authority to apply special sanctions at their discretion.
- The Staff is not obliged to systematically and immediately sanction all users who commit an offense, but will do so according to their time, conviction, and availability to verify the facts and apply the sanction, and may also consider the special circumstances of each case. Therefore, it may happen that a character is sanctioned for an act committed some time ago, without the right to complain.
- Defenses and excuses regarding sanctions are made according to the points contained in rule 2.17.
- The GM Staff will not accept personal screenshots or videos as valid evidence for applying sanctions, but only as reporting tools to reinforce surveillance of the reported user.
- "Zero Tolerance": The consequences of applying this penalty to a user are as follows:
- Permanent ban of all characters that can be determined to be their property.
- Permanent ban of all characters created with known email addresses.
- Permanent ban of characters whose last IP matches that of the sanctioned user.
- Disabling the offender's IP from accessing the game.
- Henceforth, any character created after the sanction that can be determined to belong to the user in question will be banned.
- Permanent ban of the character being used by the sanctioned user, regardless of who owns it.
- Character Creation
- Regulations for GMs and Staff Members
- Admission and Permanence
- The DSGMs (Directors of the GM Staff) will decide, at their discretion, the admission and permanence of GMs, Advisors, and Rolemasters.
- No member of the Staff, GM, Advisor, or Rolemaster has the right to claim for their permanence in the Staff, nor to request evidence or reasons for their exclusion.
- Procedures Manual
- The way GMs and Advisors act will be determined by a regulation called the 'Procedures Manual', which will specify the procedures to be followed in certain events or situations. It will also contain clarifications to these rules, so it must be considered an integral part of them and respected as such.
- Rolemasters will also have their own procedures manual.
- Proper Behavior
- GMs, Advisors, and Rolemasters must be the first to respect the rules of coexistence; they must use language appropriate to the situation and may never insult or use vulgar language.
- Relationships of Demigods and Advisors
- Demigods and Advisors may not, from their position, maintain personal relationships with other users, nor have clan memberships exposed publicly.
- Entry Frequency
- This will be determined by the DSGMS and will be stated in the respective Procedures Manual.
- Confidentiality
- GMs, Advisors, and Rolemasters commit to keeping confidential any information they access by virtue of their position, and which by its nature should not be publicly disclosed.
- Both GMs and Advisors may keep their identity secret, and it is their responsibility to ensure it remains so.
- Internal Discussions
- The emergence of any type of internal discussion that hinders the work of colleagues or the normal development of their activities may be punished with the automatic removal of the Staff members involved in the dispute.
- Failure to follow procedures and regulations
- GMs, Advisors, and Rolemasters must report any failure to follow procedures or regulations by a colleague, or it will be considered concealment. However, they should never address such failures on their own; they must simply report them to the DSGMS.
